Pumpkin picking and peak peeping

Can I just say that I love this time of year in New England. I truly missed the phenomenal foliage when I lived in Colorado. Nothing against the lovely aspens turning yellowy-gold, but they ain't seen nothin' compared to the explosion of red, yellow, orange, purple, gold and green. This weekend should be peak here in Connecticut for leaf peeping (AKA people who go for long drives just to look at the foliage). I had to share a picture out my window at work.

I am so blessed to be on the 9th floor and I have an awesome view of all this tremendous color.

Sunday afternoon when Chloe woke up from her nap, we decided that since the weather was so perfect, we were going to go pumpkin picking after all. There is this cute farm just a few minutes away from us called Clover Nook Farms. They had a big pumpkin patch as well as some goats and other animals that you could see and pet. Chloe wasn't so sure about the animals. She liked to look at them from Daddy's shoulders but she wasn't about to touch them.

She also gets a little sketchy around dirt. Go figure. She can smear tomato sauce all over her face and hair, but if she gets some dirt on her hands, she puts her palms out to me with this pathetic face, like saying "Wash me!" Anyway, once she got into the whole thing, she really liked picking her pumpkin and was quite obsessed with it.

OK, the goats are kinda cool, but I don't want to get too close.
Ooh, a pumpkin. Very interesting.
Whoa, these things are heavy. Of course, I am Hercules baby and must try to lift it myself!
Daddy and Chloe strolling along the patch looking for the perfect pumpkin.

Yes, this will do just fine!

Mommy and Chloe looking at the pumpkin family we picked out.
Hey, there are MORE pumpkins over there!
This is the Chloe pumpkin. She is obsessed with the curly top.
When we got home, we played in the back yard. The weather was so phenomenal--mid 70s and sunny!
She is so proud of herself after she goes down the slide!

Our pumpkin family all cleaned up. Chloe's is in front.

Can I take it to bed with me, Mommy??

How sweet! What a wonderful weekend! You know... they don't really have pumpkin patches like that around here. Our pumpkins come fromthe grocery store or the side-of-the-road stand, so I guess we don't know what we're missing. We also get some leaves changing, but not the scrub oaks and palm trees that are the most abundant trees around here. Makes me want to go north for a few weeks of fall. We still have temps in the high 80s here for now. Ahh. Gotta love FL!

Sorry that my Rays seem to beating your Sox quite badly. It's not over yet, but it may be after tomorrow!

The foliage is so beautiful there. Though, I can't say that it is better than Arkansas's...but we are few weeks behind! :D I love the pumpkin patch pictures. Chloe is getting so big!!

I think I might hate you. Okay, that's not true at all. But I AM soooo very jealous of the foliage - and of COURSE of that fabulous view out your office window... I don't even HAVE a window that I can see from my desk... ugh... Fall is my favorite season, and the jealousy is something I'm working on... hard. ;)

Awww, so cute that she likes the curly one. She was having lots of fun; it shows in your pictures! I, too, am suffering from color envy. The yellow here in CO is pretty, but being from the midwest - it just doesn't compare. Good luck with the last couple of weeks of your class!
