Wednesday is spaghetti night

I think that used to be a commercial from back in the day, but it was actually what we did a decade or so ago. When I was in college (or even younger, I forget now), we used to have spaghetti dinners at my parents' house. My sister and I would invite over our gal pals (namely our cousins Lisa and Mel, our neighbor Kim, Joanne) and of course my mom and gram would be there. My dad was also the lone dude, but he never seemed to mind, since he was used to being the only guy in a house of women.

We would all sit around the table eating and talking and it was a great evening. Well, we all decided to resurrect them and this past Wednesday we had a spaghetti night. It started a little crazy for me. Since I live the furthest away, I got out of work early at 4:30, picked up Chloe and headed to the house to get Sneakers. By the time I got to my mom's it was 5:50, but everyone was at the table and we just slid right in. It was like we never stopped doing them and we all eat and talked and had a good time.

We are planning to do them again and I am looking forward to it. This is one of the reasons that Craig and I moved back to CT. We wanted to be able to spend time with our family and friends more frequently than on an annual trek out east. We wanted to be able to have a random Wednesday dinner.

This Saturday we got my mom to babysit and went out to dinner with a dozen buddies for our friend Paul's birthday. It was a great time and we had our own private room at the restaurant so we could eat, drink and be merry without disturbing others. We really need to get a local babysitter so we can go out in the evenings more often. It is nice that my mom will babysit, but she is 30 minutes away and when we bring Chloe to her, then I have to wake her up to take her home.

Oh, did I mention that Craig passed his exam? And that I aced my MBA Econ class? Yeah, it was a good week scholastically for us. Now Craig is already studying for his next CFP test installment and hopes to take it before the end of the year. I just started my next class-Financial Management which goes from this week December 20. Ugh! Then I am definitely taking a break - 1 semester off!

I am lazy with the pics this week-- just one to share.

This is my Gram with Chloe and I. Chloe is the 6th of my Gram's 7 great grandchildren (my sis has 2 kids and my cousin Eric has 4). We are very blessed to have my Gram still kickin' it at a robust 78. I just love her to bits!

Congrats on the test passing and the class!!!

I think the dinners are a great tradition. I am sure Chloe will have fond memories of them just as you do when she gets older!!!

Enjoy!!!

Spaghetti dinners - what an awesome way to stay connected. I so wish that I lived closer to my family. : (

Congratulations on all of the achievements! My DH went through the CFP stuff a few years back. That was a looooong year - I never saw him since he was studying 24/7 or so it seemed . Totally worth it though!

Your post just made my spaghetti craving ten-fold! It's such a nice treat for you to spend some real quality time with your friends and families. I'm so happy for you and Craig - and Chloe too!

Hearing about spaghetti night totally makes me think that San Diego might be the right choice for our next move. It would be so nice to spend time with family more than a couple times a year!

Thanks for all the comments, Jenny! Congrats on both of you for doing so well in your academics. That is so very important. I really do miss school! I'm planning on going back eventually...need to get some debts paid off first!

The picture looks fabulous! What a great family you have!
