Welcome to the holiday season. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the holidays, just not all the craziness that goes along with it.
This past week, I took Wednesday off from work. Chloe needed to get some blood drawn (as she does every 3 months for her study) and my parents were having another spaghetti supper, so I figured I would just take the day off. Chloe was very good getting her blood drawn and was being cute and flirty in the waiting room. She was quite the little entertainer, even dancing for people and saying Bye-Bye as they left! Of course, when we went over to my mom's after the blood draw so Chloe could nap, she refused. She wanted to stay up and visit. Well, she did quite well throughout dinner without her nap and with all the family and friends around, she was chipper and happy. Of course, on the ride home, she feel asleep and when I had to wake her up at home (to bathe her, change her and get her ready for bed) she was a royal crab apple.
Earlier that day I also got to visit my girlfriend Kim who had a little boy just a week previously. I almost forgot how little newborns are! Caleb is a good sized baby--over 9 lbs--but he still seemed so small compared to lugging around my solid toddler.
This weekend was full of birthday parties and no naps. On Saturday our nephew Davin turned 3 and Chloe again missed a nap, but was happy with the festivities. As the last time, she conked out in the car and was a crab when we got home. On Sunday, we went to my niece Amanda's 14th birthday and again, no nap. This time, she stayed awake on the ride home and was pretty good in the evening, but conked right out at bedtime.
This morning, when I dropped Chloe off at day care, for the first time in 9 months when she started going to daycare, Chloe cried that I was leaving. I guess she has been getting a little more attached to me lately, but normally when I drop her off, she is happy to run off and play and I usually don't even get a wave goodbye. I hope this is a one time thing, because I hate it when she cries...
Thanksgiving should hopefully be a relatively low key affair. We are just having my in laws and my brother-in-law over, so I got a medium sized turkey and the fixings. My BIL Dale is making his famous peanut butter chocolate balls for dessert and I think my MIL is making mashed potatoes. Since it is just the same group of us, there should be no drama...
I am not sure when to start putting up a tree and decorating. This is Chloe's first Christmas where she is old enough to help out and really be into it, so I don't know if I should do it early or wait until it gets a little closer. Any suggestions?
We are continuing on the TTC journey, although I am a bit depressed as last week welcomed AF again, so month #6 is in the books... I think if we don't get anywhere by the new year, I will call my doctor. Since I will be 35 next year, I don't want to wait forever, so maybe the doc can help. I am trying not to get depressed about it. Trust me, Craig and I enjoy the effort of trying! But I would just love to add to our family and it is a bit frustrating to have no success.
