We have ignition

Have I told you guys about our woodstove dilemma? Well, when we moved in to our house in February, we had the wood stove inspected and was told that it was not properly installed and we needed to install a chimney liner before we could use it. This woodstove has been my husband's albatross for almost 6 months. It took Craig almost a month to clean the creosote that was built up inside the fireplace and stove. Then he ordered the chimney liner online. Then we realized we needed an insulation kit for it. Ordered that too. Then, we tried to install it. For months.

We even had professionals come in to help. Craig's dad came down 3 different times. Basically, the woodstove has an opening on the top that doesn't line up with the chimney. We bought several elbow pieces and tried repeatedly. It was really driving Craig insane and me too, because he was obsessed about it. It made him moody and cranky and downright irritable. Well, this Saturday, we tried to install it one more time. I actually crawled into the stove like a plumber under a sink and was able to twist the elbow from the inside. Craig dropped down the liner and with a few strong pushes, it fell into place. He was joyous. Giddy. His albatross was off his shoulders. And I had my husband back.

He has been burning a fire practically non stop all weekend. Unfortunately, I think he is burning a bit too much because today I had a wicked headache because it was a bit fume-y. I think it bummed him a bit. He has these grand plans of saving lots of money by heating the whole house with wood. Well, we are definitely saving money and the family room is nice and toasty, so that makes me happy. I think it is one of situations where you work so long and hard for something that when you get it, it rarely lives up to the magestic visions you have worked up. Oh well, at least he isn't obsessing over it.

Today was the first time that Chloe vomited. I know, weird. I mean, when she was a baby, she would spit up sometimes (but not even that much), but she has never been sick to her stomach. Well, at lunch, she brought back everything that she ate. I tell you, those high chair trays hold quite a bit... She didn't really eat much today since then, bit she seems like she is OK. Hopefully it was just a little stomach bug and she will be OK in the morning.

These long weekends are always so nice to get a lot done, but sometimes I am so tired after them, I need another weekend!

I am almost done with a cardigan I am making for Chloe. I can't wait to finish and show pictures of my first knitted sweater!

Hopefully Chloe wasn't sick because of the stove? I get sick to my stomach whenever I have a bad headache.

Here's hoping that Chloe feels better and no else comes down with the stomach bug!

I can't wait to see photos of the sweater!! Where did you find the pattern? I'm stuck on mittens, hats and booties because every time I try to find an easy sweater pattern, my eyes glaze over.

How's Chloe? Poor baby! I hope she's doing okay.
Glad you can enjoy your fire with no issues. that sounds really nice right now. Only, we have a gas stove and our bill is outrageous when we use it. I guess the fact that it's like 55 out doesn't really warrant it either. :)
